I had every intention of writing you a full Brazil Beachfront newsletter as I have been doing twice-monthly for well over a year now…

However, it's just one of those weeks where the demands of everything we’ve built and are building take precedence over everything else.

My name is Mikkel Thorup, and I’m the founder of Expat Money, a consulting firm that helps families and investors protect and secure their futures and finances through offshore strategies.

I left my home country of Canada when I was 17, and for over 25 years, I’ve been living, investing, and building a life beyond borders in search of better opportunities and more stable systems.

…and I did so long before anyone was even talking about Plan-Bs.

I knew that staying tied to one country, one system, one government, was a liability that could cost me everything if I didn’t find a better path.

So I went looking for real, durable, long-term solutions.

I studied law, tax, immigration, real estate investing (and development) and foreign markets… anything that could help me understand how to build a freer, more resilient life outside of traditional systems.

Though Panama is home, I have lived in nine countries and own real estate in ten.

My children were all born in different countries, not just because it’s interesting, but because I wanted them to receive second citizenships at birth.
